What it really costs me to live in Amsterdam

I track every euro I spend, which my friends find funny. But it means I can give you real numbers. I moved to Amsterdam in 2024 as a data analyst. Here is what my life costs.
My income
My gross salary is 62,000 euros a year, including holiday allowance. With the 30% ruling, my net pay is around 4,150 euros a month. Without the ruling, it would be around 3,500. That difference matters a lot in this city.
Monthly costs
- Rent: 1,650 euros for a 38 square metre studio in Amsterdam West. It is a private sector rental, so there is no rent control
- Energy: 95 euros
- Water and municipal taxes: about 45 euros averaged over the year

How the 30% ruling works in the Netherlands
The Dutch tax facility for recruited foreign workers explained: who qualifies, the salary thresholds, the 150 km rule, the planned reduction and how to apply with your employer.
